How much of the year do we leave to chance?

Unroll the dice for the rest of the year

The year just flies right past and leaves us wondering what we accomplished. June just blitzed by and we're suddenly well into the second half of the year. I mean sure we work hard every day and go to bed tired; but then we always feel like we haven't accomplished much when we look back. Which had me thinking; better planning, clearer goal definition and measuring the results can remedy this.

It's not enough to have fuzzy, wishful ideas of what you want to achieve; but putting down an actual plan on how it will be achieved and when creates a trail that can be followed back and reviewed. This also builds a culture of planning and not just waiting for life to happen to us.

Planning in business

This is not only true for individuals but for organisations aswell. Can you imagine how much of an advantage businesses that plan ahead have over ones that work over the short term. Not having a plan is a role of the dice and reacting to the outcome. We're mostly pretty good at this, but we can achieve more using strategy and planning.

Taking charge of the rest of your year

If you haven't yet, plan for 1 or 2 goals for the rest of the year. Not just writing down the goal, but the steps you need to achieve it with time frames. Yes the pandemic has hammered in the idea that we have little control over some outcomes, but we've been in the pandemic long enough to use the new normal's rules in the execution of our goals. They don't have to be big, they don't have to be perfect. They just need to be taken seriously.
